it is wonderful place to visit, i love the price in windchimes cinema8
Cool theater,,,I go there sometimes and happy with it...
I dont have to sit through crappy ads and reviews like other theaters..,,it goes right to the movie at showtime.
Some of the screens need to be replaced and the movies are held to long and played so many times the quality of the film could be in better condition. They need to pull those movies.
But over all,,I like it here...its old school fun.
They have a card that they punch if you go alot, 10 punches gives you a free popcorn...not much but a freebie non the less.
Eh, this place is cool. Sometimes if I feel cheap and theres something good here, then I come with my buddies or siblings and just watch a movie. This place is cool because there aren't much commercials, but the food there is the same price as AMC, so yeah. HintHint: ON TUESDAYS, TICKETS are $1.00 INSTEAD OF $1.50
I love people who dis saving money. Not all of us have trust funds and/or Phd.'s Some of us for whatever reason, need to save money. For those of you who don't lease a $60K vehicle, pull money out of your house for Plasma televisions and care more about your financial future, the dollar theatre is a great place. It means you can see many films for the price of one outing elsewhere. Also, the concession stand is pretty good. It might not be the Taj Mahal but there is good shopping around the area, it is safe and extremely reasonable for what you get. Consider this a constructive review.
The theater is old, but clean - even the bathrooms. The current owners do a great job of providing affordable entertainment. The concessions are fairly priced and the quality is better than the big name theaters. Additionally, the place is not all ghetto'd out - I've never had to ask someone to be quiet or get up and leave because a bunch of idiots were showing off to their friends. This is where I usually take my kids and the neighbor's kids for movies. Enjoy.
I am in my fabulous, fashionable 50's, an opera buff, so I'm not a kid writing these words. These folks work hard to give good value, I applaud them. They have stayed afloat all these years in all economies, so give them, and their humble but friendly theatre, the benefit of the doubt. Family friendly, good neighborhood, lots of parking. They even "redecorated" and gave the place a good cleaning and reorganization fairly recently. Lots of local restaurants and fast food places - an Indian buffet restaurant, beauty spa, small grocery store, some "what's happenin' now church fronts, a dog groomer, and marvelous fish store in the same shopping center. Rock on, folks! Ms. J.
i don't watch movies in trashy places! i'm srry but its a dump! if money isn't a problem 4 u, i don't suggest being a victim to the itchy, dirty seats!
It is like a comfortable couch, you can pay for bright new polished furiture or live with a nice atmosphere. It is a family friendly place, not $20/burger high class dining.
I always take my girls out to the movies and this is the place to do it. The movies are out here so fast and living on a tight budget this works out really great for us.
Considering that I just spent $13.50 to see a movie at the expensive joint in the Upper Kirby area - I could have waited and seen Juno nine (9) times just a couple of weeks later.
The people who work Windchimes are nice, the prices of the food & snacks are reasonable...or as reasonable as can be at a cinema. Yes, the building is not new but they keep it clean and the movies come out rather quickly.
75% of my movie going is done here.
You can't get a better bargain for the price. The screens aren't the best, but there is just something about the overall atmosphere that is pretty cool. It's a really nice place to go if you have a group of kids. I definitely give it two thumbs up!!
I make sure I watch at least half of my movies here as a way to protest the ridiculously high (and climbing) cost of movie tickets.
It's the only DOLLAR theater left on the west side of H-town I know of! It's GREAT! I go watch movies in the same kind of seats I grew up watching movies in, and I don't have to fight crowds for the best seats.
The popcorn and snacks are great and even a little less $$ than the full price theaters.
They don't have lazy boy style seats, but they're certainly comfortable enough to sit in and watch a flick.
It is what it is, a great deal for the money! Even less than the cost of renting the video or watching the show "on demand" at home.
If you have kids it's great, they always have all the kids movies and it's so sparsely inhabited it's safe.
My only complaints are that they only post the movies on the west side of the marque so you can't read what's playing headed west on Westheimer, and they tend to carry all the horror flicks (not my personal taste) and occasionally don't have a good selection for a 30's something guy like me.
And NO I'm not going to complain that ticket prices are now $1.50 (don't forget they're only $1.00 on Tuesdays!).
Guys, if you want to find out if a girl is a keeper, take her to the dollar theater and see if she's there to enjoy your company, or your wallet! Weed out the gold diggers!
LONG LIVE THE DOLLAR THEATER!
