Unix Systems Administrator



Responsible for managing, maintaining, and developing server architecture

Duties include:

• Analyze and resolve problems associated with server hardware, UNIX and applications software.

• Install, configure, and maintain operating systems and applications on multiple servers and workstations ensuring proper integration into the existing systems and networks.

• Research, evaluate, purchase, install, configure, and troubleshoot all hardware, peripherals, and equipment necessary to meet integrated systems objectives.

• Provide technical assistance to systems and users working towards the resolution of operational problems. • Maintain accurate records, inventory and systems documentation.

• Maintain effective working relationships with employees. Essential Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree Computer Science, IT or IS.

• 3 to 5 years experience in server administration or, equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Proficient with Linux VERITAS, Sun, Red Hat and Solaris.

• Experience in troubleshooting hardware and software problems.

• Ability to keep current on new technologies.

• Ability to create and maintain clear and concise program documents, user procedures and other written reports.

• Knowledge of data security and disaster recovery systems and procedures.

• Knowledge of systems security protocol, policies and procedures.
