The Director of Planned Giving will be responsible for securing outright charitable gifts of cash, real estate, securities, and tangible personal property through work with donors and their advisors. The director will plan and direct planned giving marketing strategies; maintain a portfolio of 60 to 100 individuals being actively cultivated and solicited for gifts; partner with regional development officers, clinic staff and senior staff to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward planned gift prospective donors. The director will establish an annual work plan that includes specific goals and timetables to raise major and planned gifts required with the scope of special campaigns and ongoing fundraising needs; maintain working relationship with financial and legal advisors to provide gift proposals, technical calculations reflecting tax consequences, proper forms, and related information; be responsible for planned giving agreements and documents; provide ongoing contact and follow-up with financial institutions regarding annuity agreements and other planned giving vehicles; develop and implement targeted mailings and follow up with responses in a timely manner; promote and identify bequest gifts; maintain donor records (paper and electronic) that provide all information necessary to secure and/or steward a gift; maintain donor expectancy information and provide income forecasts; monitor changes in the estate and gift design/planned giving fields; and participate as an active member of professional organizations for planned giving officers. Required are a Bachelors degree, proven success in managing donor portfolio and demonstrated success in providing superior service, significant understanding of planned and deferred giving techniques, a minimum of five years of experience working with prospective donors and their financial advisors to secure gifts of this nature, competency with Microsoft applications, and ability to travel nationally.
