IS - Sr. Technical Analyst - Application Development

Job description:



Assist in managing the relationship between IS and the business unit, including support for relevant systems for internal and 3rd. party clients. Provide implementation, training and support for relevant systems. Provide second-level support for internal customers, including managing bug-fixes and enhancements internally and with vendor(s) when appropriate



Reports to: IS Manager, Client Service



Duties & responsibilities:



1. Assist in managing the technology support needs of a business group/function, including related applications.



2. Must possess excellent conceptual knowledge of applications supporting such business activities



3. Design and develop minor enhancements in support of business group/function, including any 3rd. party customers where appropriate.



4. Coordinates communicating minor enhancements, bug-fixes and coordinating with other support managers to ensure seamless rollout of new functionality to internal and 3rd. party customers.



5. Collaborate with and apprise IS Manager of Client Services of critical project and end-user issues, and status of ongoing projects, and work effectively towards department and corporate goals.



6. Manage and provide direction to vendors through verbal and written feedback.



7. Interact with IS Client Services staff where appropriate ensuring that services are proactive and/or highly responsive, and that staff is thoroughly trained in appropriate business processes and current with new releases and upgrades.



8. Leverage support staff to develop, implement, and administer fixes and minor enhancements.



9. Provide strong business leadership, including input to departmental and individual goals, objectives and performance success criteria.



10. Assist in the development, implementation and enforcement of the annual capital and operating budget.



11. Perform other related duties as required.













Qualifications:



1. Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Business Administration, other technical discipline or equivalent experience.



2. Minimum four (4) years related experience in a fast-paced information technology environment with at least two (2) years in a leadership role developing and implementing IS/IT solutions.



3. Must have served as a Lead for one (1) major initiative (>50 % of one year’s investment) involving key business leaders and significant investment relative to the IT overall within a business group/function.



4. Must have a minimum of three (3) years of relevant business knowledge and experience supporting relevant business applications – Real Time Electrical Power Operations – nMarket, Nirvanasoft, etc..



5. Must have three (3) or more years of experience with Oracle, MS SQLServer or similar database technologies.



6. Must have three (3) or more years of experience developing reports using T-SQL (SQL Server), PL/SQL (Oracle) or similar database technologies.



7. Must have three (3) or more years of development/support experience with the SQL language and its application and tuning.



8. Must have three (3) or more years of development experience with Microsoft VB or .NET.



9. Proven ability to lead, coach and provide leadership to junior staff, including development of goals, objectives and performance success criteria.



10. Must possess strong project management skills and practices.



11. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate and interact confidently with individuals at all levels; must be dedicated to a high degree of customer service with the ability to work well in a team environment.



12. Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment, and perform well under extreme time constraints and demands during emergency conditions.



13. Ability to effectively express technical concepts to non-technical personnel.



14. May require quick access via cell phone or pager in addition to responses to after hours service interruptions.



15. Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with clients, supervisors, co-workers, staff, vendors, executive management and other constituents.



16. Occasional travel to client sites and other company locations.
